Full Metal Alchemist is a manga and anime series from Bones and distributed in the US by FUNimation. The series follows Al and Ed Elric in their quest to regain their bodies after losing them when they fail to bring their mother back with alchemy. While searching for the legendary philosopher's stone, the two become entangled in a deep rooted government plot. The manga, written by Hiromu Arakawa, first began publication is 2001 and is still on-going. The anime started in October of 2003 with music by Mitsuma Masafumi and Oshima Michiru. The series has 51 episodes, with a movie released in July 2005.

Homonculi

Homunculi in this series generally act as agents of Dante,except Greed and Wrath. Lust is shown to abandon Dante at the end before she is destoryed. Homunculi have no souls. Dante has told them that after they obtain the Philosopher's Stone for her, she will make them into humans(their goal). The seven Homunculi of this series are named after the Seven Deadly Sins as classified by Pope Gregory the Great in 6th century.

Plot

The series begins as Edward and Alphonse Elric fail in their attempt to revive their dead mother. This resulted in the loss of Alphonse's body and Edward's left leg. Edward then gave his right arm to bind Alphonse's soul to a suit of armor. Most of the series takes place three years later, after Edward has become a State Alchemist. They travel to the city of Leor searching for the Philosopher's Stone, which they plan to use to regain their bodies. After revealing the head priest as a fake, the two return to Central City. Al explains the brothers' background to an inhabitant of the city (Rose) and brothers continue to search for the stone across the country helping the citizens along the way.
